The village located at 8 km west of Maumere town this is one of the unique villages in Maumere with the entire house like build on the sea water. The character of the building is the make from bamboo and wood. With the name fisherman village; of course most of the people there are fisherman and a go they comes from Bugis and Bajo ethnic (south of Sulawesi Island). And most of the people are Muslim, they were sailed to another island to search the fish and build their house for stayed. In Flores Island they were stayed in near on the beach. In Wuring village you can find the way of life from the people when with their houses on the sea water. In there also you can see the how to make the sailing boat from the wood. And there you can joint with another peoples there to take fishing in around of the beach and of course you can bring at home the fish if you lucky. It easy to get that village you can take a Bemo from Bemo station or take by motorcycle Maumere town to there.

Watubala village is located in Flores island the east of Maumere town at Sikka Regency. It is 28 km by the road to Larantuka town. There are has traditional village and friendly local people with their daily activities. It is the traditional weaving it is local called “Utan” or Sarong (Indonesia). About the weaving is very different than other kinds of sarong in Indonesia it is about how to make, the tools and the motive. With the unique motive like a bird, dragon, ant, horse and another like show it their uniqueness. In their daily, the sarong usually used in the local ceremony, it used in traditional dances, weeding and almost in their activities because a time ago the local people only used the sarong as their clouds before they find the another clouds like now, and then the girls must can make the sarong before they see their husband because that is the one point in weeding ceremony they will give the sarong to their husbands family. You can buy it for gift with many kinds of type like clouds from sarong with beautiful motive and the many kinds of bags. In there also you can find the local craft the name is “Seneng” Sikka local language. It’s one of the traditional craft in Flores Island and you can just find in Maumere that’s the beautiful handicrafts for me because it make from traditional things and from unique types. The peoples use it for put the foods, money, put the anything it likes a bag, and they used at the traditional ceremony and you can buy also for the gift to your country.

Maumere Unique Traditional Market

MAUMERE UNIQUE TRADITIONAL MARKET

Traditional market of Maumere was known is located in Geliting market.  Where there are local people comes from another village until they comes from villages behine of the mountain to sell and buy something for their daily needs.

it's about 5 km to east of Maumere town. 

You can get there by bemo or motorcycle on Friday morning. And there you can find there are many kinds of local things it's about food and another things like local drinks name is "Moke" it's the hight alcohol water from palm or local people called "Lontar".

There also you can get the traditional ikat weaving product from the local people were sell it.
Another local food like vegetables, fruits, fishs, and local meals are there.

Wairterang Beach

Pantai Wairterang terletak di Desa Waiterang Kecamatan waigete sekitar 23 Km dari kota Maumere dan bisa di tempuh -+30 menit dengan menggunakan kendaraan bermotor. Salah satu pantai dengan pasir panjang dengan pemandangan alam sekitar yang indah dan ramah dengan pohon ketapang yang bertebaran di pesisir pantai. Pantai dengan air laut yang jernih dan  keindahan alam bawah laut yang penuh dengan karang laut dan ikan berwarna-warni dan dipagi hari kita dapat menikamati matahari pagi dan sambil melihat aktivitas para nelayan yang mencari ikan di pesisiran. Pantai Wairterang cocok untuk melakukan Diving, apabila kita melakukan diving di area sekitar, kita dapat menemukan karang laut besar bewarna-warni dan juga menariknya kita dapat menemukan bangkai kapal besi yang konon adalah kapal dagang milik bangsa Belanda yang tenggelam karena kerkandas di dasaran laut saat hendak berlabu. Sekitar pantai Wairterang kita dapat menemukan sebuah mata air diatas bukit besebelahan yang airnya mengalir sampai ke pantai. Pantai wairterang telah memiliki tempat rekreasi dan beberapa tempat penginapan seperti Bungalow yang menyediakan vasilitas kamar standar dan menu masakan indonesia dan menu lokal ikan bakar yang masih segar dan juga ada penawaran program tour ke beberapa pulau kecil di sekitar seperti pulau Pengabatang, pulau Babi, pulau Permaan dan pulau Besar yang masih perawan sangat indah dan menarik untuk dinikmati, kita bisa melakukan snorkeling, sunbathing, fishing dan diving melihat karang laut dan ikan yang berwarna-warni.
